I had a boss once who couldn't grasp that I'd bought 100 of something rather than the 96 he told me to buy because the price break at 100 meant the total bill for the order was less than buying 96 of 'em. This was in the eighties and they were Burr Brown DAC-80 D>convertors which at the time were about ?80 each. He insisted I send the extra four back - which I pretended to do. Two days later he was screaming 'cos he'd blown one up and needed another in a hurry (which at 1-off prices was getting on for ?100, plus P+P). The look on his face when I handed him one of the spares was worth all the hassle of working there.
